Have you met Samrat?

It was finals week and of course the weather outside was gorgeous, because that’s usually how our city gets you; it delivers beautiful weather on days you HAVE to be trapped in doors. I decide to take a break to relax outside on the courtyard of UST’s campus and announced, on facebook, that I am launching SupHouston and would love to get started on meeting people. Samrat immediately hit me up and became my first independent feature. He approached me, decked out in the Men’s Warehouse catalogue, because he had just arrived from a job interview for United4Change. Samrat now has the job and I asked him exactly what the non-profit company does: “it’s a lot to explain, but basically we help all those who want to be active in the community to help the world find ways to do so.” I say, Ode’ to ya!

We sat down and did a little rough Q and A session, as I tried to contemplate how I was going to go about exposing my fellow Houstonians. If you must know, Samrat is “semi-afraid” of heights and roaches, is fluent in over four languages, enjoys knock off Nature Valley granola bars, and repeatedly refers to “How I Met Your Mother.”

He currently resides in Katy and is directing a play in Bengali, which he will enter in a foreign play/film fesitval.
