Carl Willis & Techmaster D
At the Contemporary Art Museum Music Festival, held on May 7th, I witnessed the musical stylings of Carl Willis (photo right) and his DJ Techmaster D (photo left). Students at Carnegie Vanguard High School, Carl entertained the crowd to his whimsical raps with the beats from the latest artists like Nicki Minaj and Drake. Challenging these artists and writing raps to their popular beats is no joke however, seventeen year old Carl Willis was able to execute the music in an extreme swagged out head boppin way. When asked about his music he replied: “My music is personal. My style is confidential. My town is Houston. My swag is immense.”The swagged out duo can usually be found around Hiram Clark purchasing muscle milk from the local cornah sto’. Carl Willis hopes to attend UH or Tulane someday, Techmaster D…we don’t know about him…no, honestly I didn’t a chance to ask him his future plans.
